Early evening — South India.
My snow-leopard expedition had turned into a disaster, and I decided to call it quits and travel south as I was told there were sightings of a black panther.
After spending five days in the forest not even being able to spot one black panther, I got distracted and started to photograph the langurs.
While I photographed them every chance I got, the people I was traveling with frowned upon me. Langur is not a subject anyone photographs in India, “it does not have the qualities to make a good wildlife photograph,” they said. They resisted and got irritated every time I had them stop our vehicle to photograph.

I wanted to be kind, give in and agree to their thought process about the langur, but my gut was not allowing me to see it their way. I saw a fantastic subject.
